The Academic Lyceum of Westminster International University in Tashkent (ALWIUT) was established on December 9, 2008, and is a two-year state general education institution. Unlike some countries that offer a 12-year education system, the education system of Uzbekistan includes 11 years of school education.

The lyceum has a level-based system instead of specialized streams: first-year students are equivalent to 10th-grade students in general secondary schools, while second-year students are equivalent to 11th-grade students.

Each year consists of 7 Russian groups and 2 Uzbek groups. In the 2024–2025 academic year, a total of 608 students are studying at the lyceum.

Unlike other public schools, ALWIUT specializes in advanced studies of Mathematics and English. In addition, the lyceum offers the Cambridge A-Level program, which is recognized by all universities in the United Kingdom and around 850 universities in the United States as an entry qualification, as well as the “Joint Education Program” launched in the 2024–2025 academic year.

According to the monitoring results conducted by the Ministry of Public Education, ALWIUT was recognized as the No.1 academic lyceum with the highest student admission rate of 99%. The lyceum also successfully passed accreditation conducted by the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Education Quality under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This confirms that ALWIUT is a suitable institution for students to receive quality education.
