Westminster International University in Tashkent strives to keep close contacts with various academic institutions around the globe. To say more, these contacts are not limited to the Western hemisphere, but also expanded to Asia as well. On November 8, 2016 the University welcomed a delegation from Osaka University in Japan headed by Professor Junko Otani. At a start of the visit, guests met with students of the Academic lyceum under WIUT providing a presentation on Osaka University, its major departments and admission requirements for international students. The students were able to receive first-hand answers to questions of their interest.

Then the Japanese guests were received by a Rector Dr. Komiljon Karimov, who briefed on WIUT and opportunities for mutual collaboration with Osaka University. It was noted that this summer WIUT welcomed for the first time 20 students and teachers from University of Westminster (London, UK), who had a chance to experience academic exchange with WIUT faculty and students. Similar types of activities and research projects might be implemented with the Japanese universities, particularly Osaka University. Professor Junko Otani expressed gratitude for a warm welcome and fruitful discussion and agreed on continuation of discussion of further cooperation opportunities. At the end of a visit, the guests made campus tour to WIUT Information and Resource Centre, Amir Temur building and others.

It is worth noting that Osaka University is the 2nd ranked academic institution in Japan with a total population of students accounting about 25 000 persons. In addition, it has established four overseas centers in San Francisco, Groningen, Bangkok and Shanghai with the latter in charge for Central Asia.
